Upcoming Trips

The Journeys of Hope scheduled mission trips have been postponed indefinately due to many extenuating circumstances:
1. Safety issues in Retalhuleu, Guatemala, and beyond are a concern.
2. Estuardo and Diane Dardon have been unable to adjust their calendars to accomodate scheduled trips while committing to family and work calendars and needs.
3. The School of the Saints is not able to obtain the final governement approval for opening the school and with on-going governmental changes, there is no indication as to when the school will actually receive approval to open.
4. Conversations with several other not-for-profits have begun, all pointing toward possible partnerships that might strengthen the ministry and future of the School of the Saints. This year of "staying home" will allow for the time necessary to shape the future of the school's mission and ministry.

Throughout this coming year, work on the School of the Saints facility will continue through the labor and love of our friends in Retalhuleu. The administrative work with the government will also be carried out by friends in Reu. Our presence and connections in the community, while drastically changed, will continue as we rely on community leaders to carry on in our absence. While we are deeply saddened by the cancellation of our trips at this time, we remain hopeful that the hundreds of children and families served by the School of the Saints will continue to know our presence, our concern and our love through our prayers and through the services we are supporting from afar.
